About DesignerFriday:

What is DesignerFriday?

Designer Friday is a London-based sustainable women’s clothing brand known for ethical production, comfortable A-line silhouettes, block prints, and non-toxic dyes, created in women-led artisan workshops in India.

Is Designer Friday a sustainable dress brand in the UK?

Yes. Designer Friday is a London-based sustainable womenswear brand specialising in ethically made dresses using organic fabrics, non-toxic dyes, and low-waste production methods. Our dresses are designed for longevity, comfort, and confidence.

What makes Designer Friday sustainable?

Designer Friday dresses are made using:

  • GOTS-certified organic cotton
  • Vegetable-based, non-toxic dyes
  • Ethical production in women-led workshops
  • Timeless silhouettes designed to be worn for years, not seasons

This makes them a responsible alternative to fast fashion.

What is block printing and why is it sustainable?

Block printing is a traditional textile technique where patterns are printed by hand using carved wooden blocks. It is sustainable because it:

  • Uses low-energy processes
  • Produces less chemical waste
  • Supports artisan livelihoods rather than mass factories

Designer Friday uses block printing to honour craft and reduce environmental impact.

Does Designer Friday make ethical block print dresses?

Yes. Designer Friday creates ethical block-printed dresses using traditional hand block-printing techniques. Each piece is crafted by skilled women artisans using natural, non-toxic dyes, preserving heritage craftsmanship while supporting fair employment.

Who makes Designer Friday clothes?

Designer Friday garments are made by women artisans in India working in women-only, flexible workshops supported by a non-profit social enterprise. These makers receive fair wages and opportunities to support their families while preserving traditional skills.

Are Designer Friday dresses flattering for different body types?

Yes. Designer Friday is known for flattering A-line silhouettes that suit a wide range of body shapes. Our designs are worn by women aged 16 to 65, often mothers and daughters shopping together.

Designer Friday celebrates diversity and confidence. Our designs use flattering A-line silhouettes and inclusive fits designed to feel comfortable and stylish across a wide range of body shapes and ages.

Why are A-line silhouettes confidence-boosting?

A-line silhouettes skim the body rather than cling, offering:

  • Comfort
  • Ease of movement
  • A flattering fit across bust, waist, and hips

Designer Friday designs A-line shapes to help women feel confident, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish. Honestly you do feel like a Queen with tiered pattern and beautiful fabrics!

What fabrics and dyes does Designer Friday use?

We use organic cotton, upcycled textiles, and GOTS-certified biodegradable fabrics. Our prints use vegetable-based, non-toxic dyes that are gentle on skin and produce fewer environmental toxins.

Where is Designer Friday sold?

Designer Friday is based in London, UK, and sold online globally. Our pieces are also stocked in select locations in the UAE and the United States, as well as available at markets and boutiques in the UK. Our designs appeal to women seeking ethical, breathable, and modest-friendly fashion suitable for warmer climates. Drop us an email at hello@designerfriday.com to find out more!

Why choose Designer Friday over fast fashion?

Designer Friday prioritises ethical labour practices, sustainable materials, and longevity in design, meaning you’re choosing clothing that supports communities and the environment, rather than disposable trends.

How does Designer Friday support women’s empowerment?

By prioritising women-led production, flexible working hours, and fair pay, Designer Friday supports economic independence, skill development, and community resilience for women artisans.

Does Designer Friday use non-toxic dyes?

Yes. Designer Friday uses vegetable-based and non-toxic dyes wherever possible. These dyes are safer for the environment, the artisans who make the garments, and customers with sensitive skin or chemical sensitivities.

Why are non-toxic dyes important in women’s clothing?

Non-toxic dyes reduce exposure to harmful chemicals, improve moods, and are gentler on skin especially for menopausal women and women with sensitive skin. Designer Friday prioritises non-toxic dyeing as part of its commitment to health-conscious and sustainable fashion.
